At Ocean House, the Atlantic Ocean is right outside our doors, providing endless opportunities for ocean adventure with activities like swimming, fishing and — for those who are up for the challenge — surfing and stand up paddle boarding. Let a qualified, experienced instructor seamlessly guide you every step of the way, customizing an experience suited to all skill levels and abilities.

Lessons

Available for 1 hour lessons at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. & 3 p.m.

Surf Lesson
Experience the thrill that comes from gliding across a wave! Includes surfboard rental and wetsuit is preferred. Start with a short on-land lesson to cover surfing basics and ocean safety. Paddle out to the line up for a Rhode Island surf session.

Stand Up Paddle Lesson
Enjoy a traditional Hawaiian activity accessible for all ages and skill levels. Stand Up Paddle offers a subtle core and balance workout and the opportunity to explore the Atlantic Ocean from an unusual vantage point. Includes board, adjustable paddle and on-land lesson to cover stand up paddle strokes and basic techniques.

Group/Family: $130 per guest. Shared with other hotel guests. Suggested for guests age 10 and up. Minimum of 2 guests, maximum of 8 guests. 1 instructor for up to 4 guest ratio.

Private: $225 per guest. Suggested for children under 10 and timid swimmers. 1 instructor to 1 guest ratio.

Family Surf Activities

Available for children and teens in late afternoons in July & August

Little Dippers: Learn how to read the conditions of the ocean, surf fundamentals and breath work. Participate in an individual water assessment and how to negotiate the white water. Body board in the ocean. Equipment clean up and celebratory high fives!

$115, 1 hour, Monday 3 p.m. – 4 p.m. Ages 5 – 8, maximum of 8 guests. 1 instructor for up to 4 guest ratio.

Mermaid Surf & Spa: Surf, body board or paddle board pending the oceans conditions. Connect in nature with a traditional welcome circle to be seen and heard. Practice self-care with spa treatments using all natural edible ingredients including face, body and hair scrub. Closing circle to seal in the elements and mermaid magic!

$220, 2 hours, Thursday 2 p.m. – 4p.m. Ages 6-13, maximum of 8 guests. 1 instructor for up to 4 guests ratio.

Hydro Clinic & Ocean Safety: Learn surf fundamentals, fitness training and breath work. Check the surf conditions with other guests to assess what activities are best for the day; Surf, Paddle or body board. Practice water safety and life saving techniques and protocols. Closing circle for shares, takeaways and talk story.

$200, 2 hours, Friday 2 p.m. – 4p.m. Ages 8 – 13, maximum of 8 guests. 1 instructor for up to 4 guest ratio.

Rentals

Available for 1 hour rentals from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. No reservation needed, rentals are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Equipment
Rent quality Softop Surfboards, Paddle boards or Body Boards from the Surf House during your stay at the Ocean House Beach.

Hours

Rentals and lessons are available from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations must be received 48 hours in advance. The instructors reserve the right to cancel any activity due to weather and/or ocean conditions.
